I hope you all had a very restful Christmas break and an exciting start to the New Year.
So many exciting things happening on the blog. First of all the first of hopefully many cooking videos is ready on our YouTube channel to share with you. I’m demonstrating how to make my super yummy Buttercream icing – the secret ingredient to the kids in Bobby’s class saying “Bobby’s mom makes the best cupcakes!”. I am also making my Eton Mess Pavlova… Yes busting myths on meringue making and it’s super easy, Ladies!!! Go to the recipes, pick up the ingredients, let’s cook together.
I made my Eton Mess Pavlova at my christmas party – we had a “sing for your supper” Christmas party. In order to partake of the wonderful feast, you and your family present your favourite christmas carol… Don’t worry we gave everyone a good bit of Dutch courage beforehand! LOL!! My friend Sonia is a Waygu beef farmer who firmly believes in paddock to plate. So after the seafood buffet entree her fantastic steaks, ribs and sausages were the centre of attraction for our meal.
Here are our yummy photos for you… If it makes you hungry, the recipes are just a click away.
Yummy Oysters. I got these babies at Costco!! You know how much I love Costco, especially for parties. Same price as heading down to the fish market at the wharf. I served in an ice bath. It’s a pretty way to serve, but also ingenious to keep them cool. No one likes a call the day after a party telling you your guest are in hospital with a bad case of gastro after eating your oysters. Not a great keepsake.

Everything goes down better with bubbles. I found this giant champagne bucket at Costco – it’s stainless steel and is quite the centre piece. While looking beatiful it was at the centre of our drinks table, so guest could chuck their beverages in to cool, and had easy access to top-up all through the party
I Made some of my Sweet Tea and Lemonade – easy refill for the kids, the fresh slices of lemon, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries infuse flavour and are decorative.
If you haven’t tried my ribs by now, you need to head over to the recipe. Sonia’s beef ribs and my rub make beautiful tastebud memories together. Marriage made in heaven
My now famous rice salad – available in the recipe book
AND my Prosciutto, Tasmanian Camembert & Fig Salad… I think it was a big hit, BOTH platters were emptied in minutes. Also available in my salad book
Christmas Lunch was simple Aussie- style;
King prawns in Garlic Chilli Oil
After all that excitement we headed up to the Sunshine Coast for much needed rest at the beach.
We had leftovers for our picnic and the a good swim in the sea. I really love living in this country. Most cities have a beautiful holiday beach sometimes not even a full hour drive away. heaven. A great break on a budget – take your picnic and enjoy the free sunshine, sea and sand on offer. Bliss.
AND as a “Happy New Year” to all the blog followers, I am sending you the link to the Salads Book – FREE!
So look out for the link in your email and have read through the book!!!
Let’s make 2016 a fantastic year for us all. I have decided that 2016 is going to be the best one yet – I have decided to love more, cook more, smile more and hope more! That’s the beauty of the New Year – Hope.
