Bobby bounced on my bed, bright-eyed. He wants to know what comes next? Next?! It’s 06:00. Ben is just back asleep. I know Ben loves me. He gets the program – when the blinds are down, sleep. . If I haven’t said it already, this stay-at-home-mommy thing is new to me.
You want a schedule? Here’s one; 0600 – back to bed time. till at least 0800. No? Well here’s the iPad.
Since I had Ben, Bobby had Baby Monster. He comes complete with a nappy and Ben’s hand-me-down.
Oh. Funny how Baby Monster always gets hungry. For a cookie. A chocolate chip cookie. But there are Bobby’s paw prints on my couch. My white couch. In chocolate. He’s a sharp tack, that one.
I have tried many many recipes. But if you want the best, this chick knows her stuff.
With Bobby home 3 days a week, I feel the pressure to keep up the pace with the Montessori days he misses out on. I’ve given it some thought. Here’s my schedule;
05:45 till 09:00 – Peak Time ( I may or may not get a shower. I miss those)
09:30 till 11:00 – Field trip ( incl but not limited to a Business Meeting with a Colleague du jour – we drink coffee, the kids run around. Except Ben. For Ben feeding time is anytime I stand still)
11:30 – Lunch Time ( for Bobby and Ben… And you thought I had lunch, ha!)
12:30 till 14:00 – Quiet time. Bobby doesn’t nap anymore. I give him a little cloth bag with a quiet activity he can do while in bed. Or sleep. I might have a bite of solid food. Ben Sleeps.
14:00 till 16:30 – work time ( I set up a little area with a chalkboard, reading corner, little table, craft material, you get the idea)
16:30 till goodness knows when – Peak Time
Field trips and work time are interchangeable. Some days it’s double the dose of work time, depending on if I have the car that day. And the weather.
Anyone out there know where I can get some secondhand Montessori materials?
I was on skype to my Aunt S, telling her about the constant mess. She gave some good advice. Just clean up.Once. At the end of the day.
I could pick up the toys. I reach for a glass of wine instead. Red. Merlot. Ah, sweet nectar of the gods.
Toys? what toys?
Word(s) of the Day
Aunt S – My go-to-Guru. She is the mother I always wish I had.
Field Trip – Getting out of the house. Fast. before I go insane. Indoor playcentres with good coffee carts a must, interspersed with guilt-induced visits to the library, museums and playgrounds (coffee in hand)
