Busy Bee

In the last few weeks, I’ve been a busy bee… But the best kind of busy – being busy for other people.

In my travels I went over to help HIH kick start her nesting phase before her new arrival. Isn’t he gorgeous?

We started in her closet where we divided her wardrobe into seasons; Winter, which went to storage. Summer with subsections I like to call –

  • Last Blooms of Pregnancy – nice floaty dresses, tops like the one she has above, simple, easy to wear, stylish. You know the ones that make you look pleasantly ripe.
Me last winter. Pleasantly Ripe.

  • Early baby phase – The time immediately after you have the baby, not quite yourself but you need to look and feel good, because your self-esteem is at it’s lowest – think comfortable lounge pants, cute t-shirts empire line, floaty, iron-free and possibly doubling as sleepwear, cos you will sleep when you can. You want to be encouraged to get up and shower without having to get dressed-dressed.
  • Settled in phase – Your “fat”clothes – nice shorts, chinos, simple tops with breastfeeding access. lots of stretch fabrics, cleavage tops.

I like to mix drawers – so you see your tops and pairing bottoms options at once. preferably in a way that gives you visual access to footwear options. Also you wont have to see those cute shorts your former-skinny-bitch in your thighs looked killer and burst into tears. THOSE shorts are safely tucked into your bottom drawer, out of harms way.

After a day sorting and organising (my favourite thing in the world is organizing), I came home bone weary, legs-achy and pleased I had gone to the trouble of making and freezing some yummy Gnocchi

A taught me how to make it – nothing Gnocchi literart from Italy(ian). She reminisced about fond childhood memories makinf Gnocchi with her grandmother, the best of childhood memories… That I get to eat!

It keeps well in the Freezer, in serving sizes depending on yout family. Good food for babies with no chops. Ben loves it… He gobbles those soft little pillows coated in the creamy mushroom sauce like his little life depends on it.

I also organised HIH’s Baby Sprinkle.

It is her third baby, but no less special, so it was just her inner circle – sister, bestie and oldest friend from childhood. It was nice to be among a group of women who had been everything to each other for so long.

I had a busy week, so lots of outsourcing – Cakes from the best French Patisserie in our neighbourhood.

Decorations simple – Balloons.

Hosted in the luxurious setting of what is becoming my favorite spa. 2 hours of massages from head to toe after 3 days of 12 hour shifts, I was ready for a quick afternoon kip…

IMG_0513As for the gifts, each of us made a box filled with a couple things for the baby, something for mom and a letter of encouragement. for each of the first 4 days of his life. Let’s face it that’s when the waterworks tend to play-up.

After that drinkies with O.

Then finally bed… And girls, that way Just Saturday… Cathy Kelly is right, I am a real Schleper…

Baby Sprinkle –  Admittedly, it’s not your first rodeo. But after all the hard work you’ve put in, the least the nearest and dearest can do is let you put your feet up, feed you a bit of cake.
